The Women behind the Music:

1) Erin Everly: Erin is the daughter of Don Everly of the Everly Brothers. She was in a relationship with Axl Rose of Guns N Roses for about 5 years and was married to him for 1 year. Erin reportedly miscarried Axl's one and only child. Erin inspired the Guns N Roses classic 'Sweet Child O' Mine', she also starred in the music video for that timeless track.Erin also inspired the GNR track 'Estranged'. The majority of Guns N Roses fans will agree that Erin was the love of Axl Rose's life.
 

2) Stephanie Seymour:
This Victoria's Secret model dated Axl Rose for a number years and the two were even engaged at one stage. She is the muse behind great Guns N Roses songs 'November Rain' and 'Don't Cry'. Stephanie also starred in the music video for 'November Rain'.
 

3) Michelle Young:
Michelle was the good friend and rumoured girlfriend of GNR guitarist, Slash. Axl Rose became infatuated with her upon their first meeting and penned the GNR song 'My Michelle' about her.

4) Bianca Jagger:
The first wife of Mick Jagger and mother to his daughter, Jade Jagger.She is the inspiration behind the Rolling Stones classics: 'Luxury', 'Respectable', 'Miss You'. Jerry Hall stated in an interview that 'Wild Horses' was also written about Bianca. Bianca also inspired the Billy Joey hit 'Big Shot' and was a very close friend of Andy Warhol and a regular in his studio 54. Nowadays, Bianca is much more interested in her humanitarian work rather than living the rock n' roll lifestyle!


  


4) Chrissie Shrimpton:
Chrissie was Mick's first 'real' girlfriend and the pair dated for 4 years. With the end of their relationship came a number of Rolling Stones classics. Chrissie inspired Stones songs such as: 'Under my Thumb', 'Stupid Girl', 'Yesterdays Papers', '19th Nervous Breakdown', and 'Play with Fire'.
 

5) May Werbelow:
Mary Werbelow can be described as Jim Morrison's (The Doors) love of his life, his soulmate, the one that got away. Mary was Jim's first love and dated for 4 years, breaking up in 1968. The couple lived together in L.A. in the early stages of The Doors. The first 3 of The Doors album were reportedly written for her: The Doors (1967), Strange Days (1967) and Waiting for the Sun (1968). The Doors songs inspired by Mary: 'The End', 'The Crystal Ship', Mary also claims 'Break on Through' was also written about her.



6) Yoko Ono:
Yoko was the wife of John Lennon and mother to Sean Lennon. She was a huge influence and muse of John Lennon. She inspired the song 'Oh Yoko' from John Lennon's 'Imagine' album, also inspiring 'Out of the Blue', (Just Like) Starting Over, 'Aisumason (I'm Sorry)', 'Oh my Love', 'Jealous Guy', 'Woman', and 'Grow old with me' ( All written by John Lennon).Yoko also starred in the music videos for most of those tracks but also starred in the music video for 'Imagine'. The Beatles track, 'The Ballad of John and Yoko' was also written about Yoko. Yoko also appears in the music video for the Beatles song 'Something', she is also referred to in the Beatles track 'Julia'.
 


7) Marsha Hunt:
Marsha had a relationship and lived with Mick Jagger and is the mother to Mick Jagger's first born child- daughter Karis Jagger. Marsha inspired the Stones track 'Brown Sugar'.
 



8) Linda Keith:
Linda Keith was the girlfriend of Keith Richards (Guitarist of The Rolling Stones) when she met Jimi Hendrix. Linda lent Jimi Hendrix Keith Richard's white Fender Stratocaster, as Jimi himself was a poor, struggling musician who couldn't afford one. Without a Linda Keith, the world would not have witnessed such greatness as Jimi Hendrix. She introduces Jimi to Chas Chandler which was a very strong influence on the success of Jimi Hendrix. Jimi wrote the songs 'Red House' and 'Send my love to Linda' for Linda Keith. Keith Richards wrote the Stones classic 'Ruby Tuesday' on his breakup with Linda who left him for Jimi.


9) Kathy Etchingham:
The long-term girlfriend of Jimi Hendrix, she was the inspiration for a number of his songs including, 'Foxy Lady', 'The Wind cries Mary', and '1983...(A Merman I should Turn to be)'. Kathy was also associated with 'The Kinks', 'The Who', 'The Animals', 'The Move' and 'The Moody Blues'.


10) Sara Lownds:
Songs inspired: "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands," "Sara," the entire album "Blood on the Tracks," "Isis," "We Better Talk This Over," "Abandoned Love," "Down Along The Cove," "Wedding Song," "On A Night Like This," "Something There Is About You," "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight," "To Be Alone With You," "If Not For You," "Desolation Row," "Where Are You Tonight? (Journey Through Dark Heat)," and "Love Minus Zero/No Limit"





11) Joan Baez:
 Joan inspired the Dylan tracks: 'Visions of Johanna', 'Mama, you Been on my Mind', 'You belong to Me'. Joan Baez herself wrote 'To Bobby', and 'Diamonds and Rust' about her relationship with Bob Dylan.


12) Tracy Marander:
Tracy was the the first 'real' girlfriend of Kurt Cobain's (Nirvanna). She is the inspiration behind the Nirvanna song 'About a Girl'. She dated Kurt for 3 years.


13) Tobi Vail:
Girlfriend of Kurt Cobain and the inspiration behind the Nirvanna track 'Aneurysm'. Tobi wore the deoderant 'Teen Spirit', which as a joke, Kurt's friend sprayed 'Kurt smells like teen spirit' onto his bedroom walls. This would inspire Kurt To write the song 'Smells like Teen Spirit'.
 

14) Sharona Alperin:
Alperin was about 16 when she was introduced to Doud Fieger (The Knack). They quickly started dating and after about 1/2 months, Kieger would express his love for Alperin and would brand her his 'soulmate'. At the time Kieger was 9 years older than her. She went on to inspire the classic song 'My Sharona', by 'The Knack'.


15) Janis Joplin:
Janis was a legend in herself but her legend inspired many others including: Joan Baez-'In the Quiet Morning', The Mamas & Papas-'Pearl', Leonard Cohen-'Chelsea Hotel', and was in part the inspiration for Don McLean's-'American Pie'.

Woodstock-esque style: 1960s-early 1970s

Need some style inspiration for the summer?? Those chilled summer parties and festival craziness are among us! The 60s and 70s were not only historic eras in music, but also were vital in relation to the fashion world! The 60s style has made a comeback in recent years and now this vintage style is feverishly sought after. Fringe, in particular has proved to stand the test of time and is hugely popular nowadays. Coachella has proven that 60s and 70s style is here to stay, with celebrities flocking to the festival clad head-to-toe in vintage, rock-chic ensembles. I've just put together a collection of a few of my own fashion icons and surprise, surprise, they all come from the golden eras of the 60s-early 70s!
